Área: MECANISMOS MOLECULARES E CELULARES DE DOENÇAS

A investigação das bases estruturais e funcionais das entidades nosológicas mais comuns à Medicina Interna baseia-se na premissa fundamental de que as modificações induzidas pela doença apresentam padrões mecanísticos comuns com perfis similares de exteriorização fenotípica. Neste contexto, esta Área de concentração caracteriza-se pela visão unificadora de modelos conceitualmente similares de investigação e/ou compreensão dos mecanismos patológicos intrínsicos, buscando romper as aparentes diferenças entre os campos do conhecimento médico. Como paradigma central, a Área reúne pesquisadores com linhas solidamente instaladas e com ampla experiência na criação de alternativas inovadoras de interação científico-tecnológica. Dentro de uma perpectiva vertical de interação entre as bases moleculares e celulares com a exteriorização fenotípicas dos processos patológicos, as linhas de pesquisa abordam questões relacionadas aos fundamentos moleculares de doença e suas conseqüências estruturais e funcionais celulares de doenças endócrinas, metabólicas, hepáticas e renais. Ressalta-se, ainda, que a abordagem integrada da fisiopatogenia cria mecanismos ativos de interação entre a Ciência Básica e a Clínica. Desta forma, as características singulares desta Área de Concentração congregam tanto uma estrutura já instalada de pesquisa quanto uma sólida base intelectual, pré-requisitos fundamentais para a efetivação da Ciência e Medicina Translacional na Instituição.

Linha de Pesquisa: CARCINOGÊNESE CUTÂNEA

1. Determinar fatores carcinogênicos envolvidos no câncer da pele e da mucosa (tegumento), com ênfase na infecção pelo papilomavírus humano; e 2. Caracterizar o campo de cancerização.

Linha de Pesquisa: MANIFESTAÇÕES DERMATOLÓGICAS NOS INDIVÍDUOS IMUNOCOMPROMETIDOS

Determinar os fatores epidemiológicos no cancer de pele não melanoma nos receptores de transplante de órgão sólido; etiopatogenia do cancêr de pele. Caracterizar a infecção fúngica granulomatosa no individuo imunocomprometido.

Linha de Pesquisa: RESPOSTA IMUNE HUMORAL E CELULAR NAS DEMARTOSES GRANULOMATOSAS INFECCIOSAS

Avaliar a resposta imune humoral e celular nos granulomas infecciosos através de métodos sorológicos e técnicas histoquímicas. Determinar se as técnicas empregadas podem ser úteis no diagnáostico precoce, na profilaxia e na escolha terapêutica.
